Google has been showing signs of improving the overall web experience for
the online community and as a continuation of its steps to make the web faster and search results relevant Google will now take into account, a websites’ response time and speed. In a blog post today, the announcement was made that site speed will be taken into consideration while ranking a website’s content to appear in the search results.
Here is what Google actually said,
You may have heard that here at Google we’re obsessed with speed, in our products and on the web. As part of that effort, today we’re including a new signal in our search ranking algorithms: site speed. Site speed reflects how quickly a website responds to web requests
Google has also suggested some tools (such as Firefox Add-on Page Speed, Yahoo’s YSlow and WebPagetest) to monitor a website’s speed and response time to all the webmasters plus it also has its own webmaster tools which have various features that can help a site owner to tweak and optimize a website for maximum speed.
