Google has been working on its voIP service Google voice all along since it started out giving invites of this product. Now according to the latest reports from Techcrunch, Google is testing its desktop version of Google Voice.

Google acquired gizmo5 last November and is rumored to be incorporating the basic features of this voIP service in its desktop version of Google voice. Gizmo5 would allow the PC and Mac users to use their machines as a normal, fully functional phone as compared to the current situation where the users have to be connected to an external phone while using the Google Voice service.

Its not know when this product will be launched in its full form with all the new features but whenever it does, current leading voIP sevices like Skype can expect to have a tough competition.
